82D AIRBORNE DIVISION ENAMEL CSIB The Army standard uniform used to be green, however in in 2008 dark blue was chosen and all soldiers will be expected to adopt the dark blue uniform by 2014. President Washington chose dark blue as the national color of Continental Army in 1779 and the new Army uniforms reflects the Continental blue color. Changes to the uniform replaced the combat patch worn on the right sleeve of the class A green uniform with a metal combat unit service identification badge worn on the lower right side of the blue uniform
